Who is eligible to use the medical card program? What medical conditions qualify?
The State of Pennsylvania has approved the use of medical card for a number of health conditions. They include:
- Anxiety (which can include anxiety related to the Covid-19 pandemic)
- Autism
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Cancer, including remission therapy
- Crohn’s disease / Inflammatory bowel disease
- Damage to the nervous tissue of the central nervous system (brain-spinal cord)
- Dyskinetic and spastic movement disorders
- Epilepsy or Intractable seizures
- Glaucoma
- HIV/AIDS
- Huntington’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Neurodegenerative diseases
- Neuropathies
- Opioid use disorder
- Parkinson’s disease
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain
- Sickle cell anemia
- Terminal illness
- Tourette’s syndrome
